Yes. All calibration gas mixtures produced by SpecGas Inc. are NIST traceable, meaning concentrations are verified against national measurement standards. This ensures your analytical instruments — including gas chromatographs, FTIR analyzers, and emissions monitors — are calibrated to recognized, auditable accuracy benchmarks required by regulatory and quality programs.

SpecGas offers cylinders ranging from 17 liters to 2000 liters gas phase volume. Cylinder types include disposable steel, disposable aluminum, refillable high-pressure aluminum and steel, and nickel-plated cylinders. For reactive gas mixtures, specially-treated aluminum cylinders are used to maximize stability and shelf life. Cylinder selection depends on the gas type and concentration.

SpecGas uses a proprietary internal cylinder treatment process developed by founder Alfred Boehm during his research career at Messer Griesheims Industries. This treatment chemically conditions the cylinder interior to minimize gas adsorption and degradation, enabling stable concentrations over extended shelf periods. Yes. SpecGas is one of the few providers in the world capable of producing stable formaldehyde gas mixtures. Formaldehyde is blended in specially treated aluminum cylinders at concentrations from 1 to 100 ppm in nitrogen or air, compliant with EPA Method 320 for stack emissions testing. Similar expertise applies to other difficult-to-stabilize VOCs and reactive gases.

If a customer receives a mixture and disputes the stated concentration results, SpecGas will immediately remake and re-ship a replacement cylinder at no additional cost. The original cylinder is returned to SpecGas for full re-analysis and investigation. Any resolution concerning the customer's concern is discussed following completion of the re-analysis, ensuring accountability and confidence in every order.
